A Young Female Needs Counseling for Her Bipolar Condition and For Her Drug Addiction and Alcohol Dependency

Around two weeks ago I met a twenty-six-year-old lady named Rachael who is bipolar and who is also dependent on drugs and alcohol. I remember reading that under such circumstances, a person needs to get counseling for both medical situations and that mental health problems and dependency tend to occur in the same individual. Not only this, but I recall reading that a history of excessive and hazardous drinking, drug abuse, and/or mental health problems many times occur in the same family.

Plainly, Rachael is so defeated by both of her medical problems that she in actual fact has no desire to complete much of anything. What is particularly unfortunate about this is that earlier in her life, Rachael finished one-and-a-half years of college. Rachael’s circumstance makes me question if she is an illustration of a person who has to hit the very bottom before he or she gets alcohol and drug dependency rehabilitation that leads to long lasting recovery.

The Need For a Healthcare Practitioner She Trusts and a Counseling Program She Can Believe In

If I were in contact with Rachael I could advise her about several websites and blogs that could possibly help her find info about addiction and alcoholic behavior, relevant chemical dependency information, facts about alcoholism and drugs, and more information about addiction symptoms and alcoholism warning signs. In my honest opinion, however, Rachael needs to find a doctor she trusts and a treatment program she can believe in and follow over the long haul. I could be mistaken but it seems to make sense that Rachael more likely than not needs to admit the fact that she cannot drink at all or abuse drugs if she wants to get sober, remain sober, and start on the route to long-term sobriety.

I am aware that there are some newly developed doctor-prescribed meds that can help Rachael through the drug and alcohol detoxification process, through her withdrawal symptoms, and help her avoid a drug or an alcohol relapse. Obviously it would be in Rachael’s best interests if she knew about these meds.

I would think that Rachael needs to admit the fact that there is absolutely nothing constructive about negative drinking and drug addiction and that messing around with one or both situations is the road to poor work and school performance, a premature death, financial difficulties, deteriorating health, shattered relationships, and legal problems.

The Significance of Support Groups Such as Narcotics Anonymous and Alcoholics Anonymous

There are more likely than not quite a few persons such as friends, family members, and other people who would want to help Rachael but she more likely than not would experience greater understanding from a recovery group such as Alcoholics Anonymous or Narcotics Anonymous instead of listening to individuals who drink just a few times per year or who have never taken drugs.

When Individuals Do Things They Love and About Which They Are Ardent

There’s a philosophical outlook that asserts that individuals who do things they love and something about which they are fervent arrive at a magnificent place in life. In other words, when people do what they love, they hardly ever go through an uneventful life or boredom. If they involve themselves in something that is enjoyable, furthermore, they become more whole and experience more contentment and delight in life.

To me, this sounds quite a bit different from a life that is rooted in drug and alcohol addiction because such a lifestyle removes the gratification and delight that life offers.

Due to the fact that Rachael doesn’t have the drive to accomplish much of anything in her life, it is obvious that she definitely needs some hope for a better life. And the unfortunate thing is that hope is virtually everywhere around Rachael if she could only get to the place in life to get the therapy she requires for her bipolar illness and alcohol dependency and drug addiction and continue with her treatment routine.

Constructive Change, Self Esteem, and a Wonderful Life Are Possibilities

Rachael is clearly too young to be defeated in life. She doesn’t realize this right now but if she can learn how to abstain from alcohol and drugs through drug and alcohol therapy and get the treatment she needs for her manic depression condition, she can turn her life around and start living with self-respect, direction, and passion.

A wonderful life, self esteem, and productive change are certainly possibilities for Rachael if only she could get inspired to seek the professional rehab she requires, follow through with her treatment program, live her life in a healthy and sober manner, and acquire a more positive attitude about her life.
